A study conducted by Microsoft found that only 14.6% of the Windows Mobile users are women, 85.4% of users being of the male persuasion. Could it be Microsoft’s (Windows Mobile’s) penchant for designing their user interface with a priority on function? Windows Mobile devices tend to be more logically and straight-forwardly designed then their fashion-oriented brethren, could it have something to do with the “eye-candy” factor?

Windows Mobile had better start thinking more about design and the “eye-candy” factor if it hope to attract more women into using the WinMo platform. Afterall, 50.4% of all handsets belong to women
